Nyingchi is a state in southeastern Tibet. It borders Lhasa to the east, Shannan to the southwest, Qamdo to the south, and Nagqu to the north. Linzhi literally means the throne of the sun, named for its special status. For other parts of Tibet, Linzhi is the place where the sun rises visually. The lowest altitude of Nyingchi is only 900m, and the highest altitude is 7,782m (Nanga Bawa Peak altitude), which is the region with the largest altitude difference in the world. The average altitude is about 3100m, which is the lowest altitude area in Tibet.
